Issue 6 | Spring 2022 | Postbox Magazine
Info
Postbox is the magazine of Postbox Press, the literary fiction imprint of Red Squirrel Press publishing short story pamphlets and collections, novellas and novels.
Writer and musician Colin Will is Editor of both Postbox and Postbox Press, the fiction imprint of Sheila Wakefield’s Red Squirrel Press. ‘This issue is three months late and I’d like to begin by apologising. I suffered a heart attack in late November and spent five days in hospital, a month unable to drive and quite a long time feeling dreadful. I slowly recovered and just when I felt that I was beginning to see the light at the end of the health tunnel, I contracted shingles and still haven’t fully recovered from that.
I then encountered an issue which I’d heard about but had hoped it wouldn’t affect me, paper shortages. The printer I use for full-length poetry collections, fiction and this magazine was out of stock of the paper I use. I’ve fine-tuned my production values over the last sixteen years and am now very happy with the design, typesetting and printing of all my publications. I insist on using a specific paper, Munken (meaning ‘Swedish monks’ who gave their names to the village and the mill) produced in Munkendal, a small village, by the Orekil River, near the Swedish coast which has been in operation since 1871. It is also one of the world’s most eco-friendly paper mills which is important to me. I could have used a different paper, but I decided against that and held out until they received stock. Hopefully, “normal” service will now be resumed and thank you for your patience and understanding.’
